It’s frustrating to trial a software only to uncover that it’s not going to be a great fit for your business. So to save you some time, here are a few use cases we know that Routific doesn’t do well quite yet.

Your business requires an on-demand delivery solution

We may not be a good fit for businesses looking for on-demand delivery services.

One of the most common use cases would be restaurants that need to make deliveries as they come in. Think UberEats, DoorDash or Skip the Dishes.

While Routific is a great option for delivering perishable goods, it is better suited for businesses that have pre-scheduled deliveries at least a few hours in advance.

Your business needs to do multi-day routing

Routific may not be the right fit if your business must plan routes over the course of multiple days — what we refer to as ‘multi-day routing’.

Here’s an example: you have 1000 stops to make over the course of one week. To make sure you keep things efficient, you may need routing software to optimize routes that account for the best day to schedule a stop (something you’ll struggle with on Routific).

Routific is better suited for scenarios where route plans are completed within a single day.

Your business needs ‘return to depot’ functionality

If your business needs to make multiple trips to and from the depot to complete delivery routes, Routific may not be the best fit for you.

A common use case would be making a large volume of deliveries, and not having the vehicle capacity to handle it in one trip. This forces your drivers to come back to the depot, reload, and continue on with their route.

Routific is better suited for scenarios where you are able to complete all deliveries in one route. Having multiple vehicles in your fleet is a great way to get the most out of Routific.

Your business requires barcode scanning

If your business needs to scan barcodes as part of its delivery management process, you may run into issues with Routific.

A common use case for this would be delivering multiple parcels that have to be scanned in upon delivery to update a delivery status.

Why are you telling me this? Don’t you want my business?

We’re passionate about helping home delivery businesses transition away from manual route planning and towards using route optimization software. But we want to make sure you find the right software that fits your needs — even if that means it might not be us right now.

We would love to say that Routific is the perfect fit for any delivery business, but that might be a stretch. So, in the spirit of radical transparency, we want to be upfront about what we can and can’t do.

After all, if we really care about efficiency and time savings, the last thing we want to do is waste your time.
